Heian Best Beginners Guide β Imagine being dropped into a mysterious new world without a map, compass, or even a whisper of guidance. Thatβs Hang for you β a Jujutsu Kaisen-inspired game that throws you straight into the action with zero tutorials and expects you to figure things out like a true sorcerer-in-training. But donβt worry, Iβve wandered its cursed paths and collected everything you need to survive and thrive.
First Steps: Finding Your Bearings | Heian Best Beginners Guide
The game doesnβt hold your hand β not even a finger. Right after you spawn, you’re left to your own devices. No quest marker, no objective text, just vibes and NPCs. But look around β youβll notice a few familiar faces:
- Blacksmith: Your go-to guy for crafting and upgrades.
- Bounty Board: Need coin or rep? This board dishes out missions.
- Merchant & Barber: One helps you look sharp, the other helps you be sharp β by trading trinkets for cash.
- Reputation Trader: Crucial for crafting high-tier gear.
Combat 101: Your First Fight
Combat in Hang might look flashy, but itβs built on a solid, intuitive system. Hereβs your crash course:
- M1 (Left Click): Basic attacks (tap for combos).
- Space + Left Click: Aerial attacks β launch them into the air!
- Ctrl + M1: Up tilt (launch enemy up for air combos).
- Running + M1: Sprint attacks.
- Parry: Block and counter, essential for survival.
- Aim Down + Space: Down slam, ground βem hard.
Itβs all about timing and flow β and when you get it right, it feels incredible.
Leveling Up: Missions vs. Roaming

There are two ways to gain XP and level:
- Explore & Defeat NPCs: Encounter random fights across the world.
- Use the Mission Board: Press TAB, choose from missions like βRescue Hostage,β and earn loot + rep.
Completing missions gets you skill points (up to 300 max), chests, and reputation. Chests may contain weapons, armor, or even blueprints.
Skill Trees & Abilities
Press M to open the skill tree. Youβll see several branches based on your invested stats:
- Agility: Better movement and climbing.
- Vitality: More health.
- Strength: Affects melee and heavy weapons.
- Curse Energy: Boosts curse reserves and minor technique damage.
- Curse Output: Increases curse technique damage output.
Want to activate or deactivate a skill? Just click, then double-click. You can even turn off a skill to make space for a new one if a trainer refuses to teach you.
Crafting, Blueprints & Reputation

Chests also drop blueprints β and thatβs where crafting kicks in. Head to the blacksmith, hit option 3 (forge items), and unlock any new recipes youβve found.
To craft powerful gear (like the Dark Purge Greatsword or Assassinβs Attire), youβll need both the blueprint and enough reputation points. No grinding? No gear.
Tip: Always check your schematics after a mission β you might be sitting on rare recipes.
Fast Travel with Runestones
The world of Hang is surprisingly vast. Thankfully, runestones scattered across biomes allow fast travel. Interact with one, and you can jump instantly from a forest to a snowy wasteland or fiery volcano.
Youβll know a runestone is nearby when your curse sense goes off. Find it. Activate it. Save yourself the walking.
Curse Techniques & Fighting Styles
Youβre allowed one fighting style and one curse technique. Trainers for both are hidden throughout the map.
Some cool techniques include:
- Flame Arrow (a personal favorite)
- Others youβll discover with time β there are around 10 currently.
No Domain Expansions⦠yet. But the devs hinted this is just the beginning. Open testing is ongoing, and more powers may surface soon.
Whether you’re into aerial combos, tactical mission grinding, or just want to flex a cursed katana in the snow biome β Hang offers deep customization wrapped in anime-inspired chaos.
So hop in. Experiment. Fail gloriously. Learn faster. And most importantly, enjoy the grind.
P.S. If this guide helped, make sure to pass it on to your fellow cursed friends. The world of Hang wonβt conquer itself.
