Character Creation – Best Races to Aim For
Starting off with a powerful race can make a massive difference, but rerolls cost Robux (150 each)—and they aren’t cheap. Instead, get extra character slots and roll again for free.
Top Races for Beginners:
- Dullahan – Strong, tanky, and durable.
- Elf – Great for ranged builds.
- Slime – Surprisingly good thanks to regen.
- Ailuran – Agile and ideal for PvP.
Pro Tip: Check out our Rune Slayer Race Tier List to learn why these picks shine.
Best Classes to Pick for New Players
When you start the game, you’ll select from 6 base classes. Don’t worry—you can multiclass after level 10, but picking the right starter helps a lot.
Class | Tier | Why Pick It |
---|---|---|
Priest | S | The best overall. You heal yourself and teammates, making PvE a breeze. |
Striker | A | Simple but deadly. Great for PvE and PvP due to fast melee combos. |
Archer | A | Safe from range and consistent damage. PvE king. |
Thief | B | High PvP burst, but squishy and not great in dungeons. |
Magician | B | Fun for support and range, but underperforms in PvE/PvP. |
Warrior | B | Jack of all trades, master of none. Mid-tier for now. |

Selling Items – Where and How
Don’t hoard junk! Head to John the Merchant in Wayshire (the starting town) to sell unwanted gear and loot. You’ll also find consumables and crafting items for sale.
Joining the Adventurer’s Guild
Find the Adventurer’s Guild on the hill in Wayshire. Talk to the Receptionist NPC to join. Once you’re in, you’ll unlock Job Board quests, which are your main method of leveling up and earning rewards.
Ranking Up in the Guild
To rank up your Guild Grade:
- Complete 5 jobs from the board.
- Look for a Special Rank-Up Mission (usually a boss fight).
- Beat it to advance to the next grade.
Rinse and repeat to climb higher and unlock more lucrative quests.
Accepting Quests & Leveling Fast
There are two types of quests:
- Yellow “?” NPCs: One-time quests for big rewards.
- Job Board Quests: Repeatable tasks, mostly grind-based.
Both give experience, silver, and useful gear—but early on, prioritize NPC quests for faster leveling.
How to Tame Pets (and Ride Them!)
To tame a pet:
- Hit it once to make it hostile.
- Hold its favorite food near it.
- A ❤️heart will appear if it’s working.
If you fail, the creature goes hostile again—you’ll have to either defeat or retry later.
All Tameable Creatures:
Pet | Favorite Item |
---|---|
Slime | Slime Chunk |
Black Ooze Slime | Black Ooze Chunk |
Deer | Apple |
Wolf | Raw Deer Meat |
Bear | Honey (Best Tamer class needed) |
Boar | Raw Bass |
Beaver | Oak Log |
Alligator | Raw Serpent Meat |
Bee | Honey |
Fairy / Golden Fairy | Just touch it |
Baby/Adult Spider | Mandrake Root (Adult = Best Tamer only) |
Mud Crab | Black Bass (Best Tamer needed) |
Panther | Animal Heart (Rare + Best Tamer needed) |
Riding Your Pet
- Reach level 20.
- Complete Jimmy the Stable Master’s quest in Wayshire.
- Equip a saddle.
- Press
E
near your summoned pet to ride it.
Healing Pets
Feed HP food next to your pet to heal it.
Or… let it die. Pets revive after 5 minutes. If you respawn, so does your cooldown!
How to Reset Your Bounty
Got a bounty from PvP? Go see Lockmeier, behind the inn in Wayshire.
Low bounties = silver cost.
High bounties = gold cost.
Don’t wait too long—guards might hunt you down.
Fishing Guide – How to Start
- Visit Simon the Fisherman (south side of Wayshire).
- Buy a rod + bait.
- Equip the rod and click to cast.
- Wait for ripples → click again to reel it in.
You don’t need to equip bait—it just needs to be in your inventory.
Crafting – Your First Gear
Go to the Blacksmith in eastern Wayshire:
- Smelt materials at the Smelter.
- Use the Workbench to craft armor/weapons.
- Collect new resources to unlock more recipes.
💡 Don’t forget to mine and chop trees along the way—you’ll need materials constantly.
Expanding Your Inventory
Backpack full? You can expand your inventory by:
- Buying bags from merchants.
- Completing quests like Sadie’s Lost Bag.
- Crafting bag items.
To use a bag: Equip it and activate from your inventory.
Final Thoughts
Rune Slayer is massive, and it only gets better the more you explore. From taming magical beasts to becoming a Guild legend, there’s always something to do.
